I know that Compuware isn't the prestigious event it use to be but....
We were scheduled to play there next weekend. The event was cancelled due to COVID 19.
Michigan has not opened up for youth sports yet... we had 2 teams attending this year, 14u & 16u
We were notified of the cancellation and were told they only giving 80% refunds for EACH team
That is a bunch of bullshit!

2020 Compuware Classic Future Reservation or Refund Option
Greetings:
As stated last week, the COVID-19 restrictions in Michigan (even with some loosening yesterday) do not allow competitions were players would come within 6 feet of each other. There are also still significant issues with hotels as well as necessary procedures for facilities. Thus, most if not all June tournaments in Michigan have been cancelled. I have over the last 4-5 weeks been involved in several ZOOM meetings with 6-8 other Michigan tournament directors to discuss policies, cancellations and to try to build a consensus . I recommended and I am adopting the most generous refund policy discussed, as well as offering a full credit option, if preferred, for 2021. Several tournaments are offering far less and no future credit option. I want to try to be fair, and also provide teams a viable option. I sincerely believe our policy does so. Therefore, please notify us of one of the 2 options below -

1. I would like this year's entry fee to be held for our 2021 guaranteed spot in the Compuware Classic. Even if the entry fee goes up in 2021, I will not be charged the difference.

2. I request a refund of 80% of my 2020 entry fee. If you choose option one, designate the team/age group/coach and organization. If you choose option 2 we will make the check payable to whoever sent the original check. Thank you.

Please email your choice to: Scottecombs@aol.com

Also, we hope to see you and your team in the fall, for the 5th annual Compuware Early Bird Tournament, Sept 11-13 2020, also at Canton Softball Center. This is a great event, shortly after tryouts, to get your new team out on the field. We hope to see you then.

Not a surprise by now.... A $350 60+ team friendly kept almost 15% netting around $3000 and a $500 100+ team tourney kept 15% netting around $9000. The one $500 tourney that actually did offer a full refund, I told them to please keep $25 for the memorial fund it was set to raise money for. Pandemic is no time for profit. Simply remember and adjust accordingly in the future. Overwhelming majority of us are well-intentioned, especially on this site, but the sad truth is we ALL know travel ball has become way too costly. This year, I’m hopeful the increase in true friendlies leads to more genuine connections being made, valued and utilized more often in the future. Good luck to all of you this summer and well wishes to your players’ health and development in this great game!
