I'm fine with the girls cheering. ?I too think it keeps them up and at least focused on the game in general. ?My guess is, they still aren't all in the dugout paying attention to the coach giving signals or watching the base runners, but as Knights said, it's better than having them talking about their boyfriends, or the mall, etc... ?We also only allow the girls to do positive cheers about our team, or neutral cheers that don't attack the other team, and if we are way up in the score, we don't continue to do cheer after cheer after cheer. ?It becomes disrespectful at that point, IMHO. ?
? ? I do know that the male coaches I coach with would rather the girls didn't do "cheers", maybe it's a guy thing. ?:
?I helped with our HS team this year and while they didn't do "cheers", the head coach did expect them to stay in the game and cheer/clap/support their teammates.
