ASA Tournament field conditions and amenities at GFOD tournament

How bad to tournament conditions have to be before we let the owners know? The GFOD tournament in Bellville ohio this past weekend had only 6 entries and two of those were there own teams, and after playing there I can understand why. The outfield grass looked uncut(for a couple of weeks)----in my video you cannot even see the outfielders shoes----and the lumps in the outfields made safety for the ladies a real concern----and worse yet the stones(small rocks) in the infield tore up two of our players knees----and to top it all off they had one porta pot for all 6 teams and sunday morning the toilet was so full it was almost over flowing----also there is no place to warm up that is safe for the kids----the stands were not good----one of our games started with only one ump as one did not show up on time----before you sign up to play in a tournament it would be well advised to use caution before going to a privatly owned facility without first talking to others who have played there. Can anyone offer words of caution about other facilities?

We played there this weekend, and it was a wonderful tournament. Well ran, no umping problems, good food, beautiful weather and ran very smoothly. Great job GFOD!!!

Re: field conditions and amenities at GFOD tournam

My daughter has been playing in tournaments and in the winter league at GFOD for the past 3 years and we have always had a good experience there. ?The venue was always well cared for, with great concessions and fantastic umps. ?Tim Galligher is a wonderful person with a good heart and if the venue is for sale, THAT'S HIS BUSINESS! Best of luck to him! Rumors are just that...RUMORS! ?From looking back at your previous posts (not mentioning any names, SB) some of you sound like a bunch of old, gossiping women. ?GET OVER IT! ?So, the "word is", GFOD THUNDER Softball will continue, but possibly under a new team / organization name........GOOD FOR THEM! ?Those girls ROCK and I certainly hope, and have no doubt, that they'll be back in 2008 and better than ever! ?They've got talented players, great coaches, and devoted parents...all the makings of a great ball club! ?I can honestly say that MOST of the tournaments we attend are guilty of over-flowing trash cans, filled to the rim port-a-pots and other not-so-hot conditions. ?When there's that many people utilizing a single area, its going to happen. ?GFOD has been a great benefit to the young athletes in the Central Ohio area and I for one, sure hope it continues.

I have known Tim for years and have coached for him and with him.
Nothing I said was negative and my dd has also played winter ball. The only rumor that was brougth up by me on any post was if it was for sale. We were trying to find out if this was true, as many parents were concerned as this is the only place to play indoors . It would appear it was. I have many friends that play at GFOD, so I'm not sure why you are drawing this conclusion. Most of my information was coming from parents and coaches from GFOD. I have sent many kids to play there during camps. If you can find anything else besides the question if it was for sale , then don't hide behind a screen name.

Oh Man.......I WOULD LOVE TO BUY THAT PLACE! ?Look at the possibilites there. ?That venue is completely set up and ready to roll. ?And it comes with nearly 30 acres. ?It would be fantastic if some hot shot, dripping in money came along, kept the programs in place (softball, gymnastics, cheerleading, and whatever else they offer) and really built it up! ?There are too few indoor venues to choose from as it is and I know the winter league ball program was really popular there and cost about 1/2 of what the thunderplex or spano-dome cost. ?I guess we'll all have to wait and see what happens.
