In case you missed this on the General Board, a "challenge" of sorts was posted to all OH high school teams to raise money for the Fox family. ?(There has been someone come forward that will MATCH all proceeds raised up to $5,000!! ?Your donation could count double!!!) ?I'm hoping you will consider helping out. ?I know we will have a jug at our games starting this week.
Many of you know Liza Fox, her daughers Asha and Jasa have played softball in Ohio since both were 10U, and Liza has been active in softball for many years. Even if you do not know Liza, the softball community is one that is caring and has helped to take care of one another. My wife is leading an effort with many who know Liza, to help raise funds for her care. We appreciate your time in reading the note below. Any help in purchasing tickets, donating prizes for the auction, giving a monetary gift, and including Liza in your prayers is greatly appreicated.
LIZA FOX BENEFIT
My friend, Liza Fox, was diagnosed with ALS in September of 2007. Unfortunately, there is no cure for this horrible disease. Medication, which is costly and has numerous side effects, has not really done a lot for Liza. Each time I see her she is much worse than the time before. She has lost the use of her arms and legs and, just a couple of weeks ago, she lost the ability to speak. The horrible part of this disease is that it affects your body, but your brain is unaffected. Before the disease, Liza was a young, vibrant working mom and a contributor to our community. ?
Liza wants to do and say so much, but is unable to do so. She is now at the point where she requires 24 hour care. She wishes to spend her last days at home and does not wish to enter into a Hospice situation just yet. I am coming to you to ask your help in fulfilling her wish. Her husband, Jamie, has had to hire someone to care for her while he is at work and while he sleeps at night. The cost of this care is about $8,500 per month. Sadly, Jamie was forced to take out a loan to cover Liza?s care. He was only able to borrow enough money to cover three months of care and has no idea how he will ever be able to repay the loan. Needless to say, this family is up against some hard times not only financially, but emotionally. Please pray for Liza and Jamie and their daughters, Asha and Jaisa. ?
I (with the help of a lot of friends) plan to host a benefit for the Fox Family. The benefit will take place on Friday, April 25 from 7:30 ? 11:30PM at the F.O.P. Lodge #38 at Joyce Park (180 Forrest Lake Lane ? Hamilton, Ohio). We will have lots of food and drink, DJ, auction, split the pot and much more. Tickets are $25 per person and can be purchased in advance by calling Renee Boswell at (513) 886-0088 or you can purchase your tickets at the door. If you are a business owner, or know someone who is, and you would like to donate anything for the auction, please contact me as soon as possible. All donations are greatly appreciated.
