Gahanna tourney torture

I'm not sure if this has ever been done, but I would liked to have seen partial elimination of the losers bracket and have longer games than 45 min. Meaning drop the first tier of the losers bracket and the second tier if need be. Other words if you were a winner's bracket first round loser you would be out because of weather and time constraints. You had little chance to win at that point anyway. Yes bad luck, but the tourney could then be played out in a more normal fashion.

Problem with that is games in the 2nd tier are waiting on winners from the 1st

I am not being critical here and mean no disrespect. However, could you please explain the logic behind the 1 hour time limits at the 12u sight with two empty diamonds and 4 umpires sitting in the parking lot waiting to rotate games on the three fields in play while teams are sitting and waiting to play as well?

I cant answer totally as I was at the 16u site, but I do know the director there tried to get a 4th diamond going later on Sunday and start another 10u team but one of the teams said they couldn't get ready in time cause they had just fed their team and some of the girls were napping. Also at some point in double elimination you can't use more than 2 fields as teams are waiting on the result of a game to know their opponent.

It could have been worse??? Attended a National Qualifer tourney where the TD made no attempt to work the fields, had slowpitch softball games playing on the fields when they were dry and not the girls that traveled there for a fastpitch tourney and then decided the winner by a flip of a coin? A team that did not win a game all weekend got the bid to Nationals and took home the hardware and a team that won the three games played was sent home with nothing.
