I just heard the Nitro won it all with their second rr of the Lasers (12-2) today... incredible.

We had a great weekend - meet many, many wonderful softball parents and coaches and players - made many new friends.

We got to play the Nitro, Lasers, Dragon, Stingrays, Roadrunners and others all in the same weekend - 8 games in three days... it was a high level of softball all in 1 place.. probs to the field crew - the Olentangy folks were great at running the tourney and keeping it moving...

Congrats to the Nitro ... they are a great team, with super parents and we had a good time hang'n with them today. They let our girls join their crew while they were battling the Lasers - at one point our Hawks, a bunch of Roadrunners and some Ice players were all cheering and encouraging the girls on the field - it was very cool to see such high energy on Sunday afternoon.

Gapss-TD thanks for letting us in .. it was a great experience for our girls and we are a better team for the tough competition we faced.

Congrats to the Nitro team! Girls had a great weekend! The tournament was ran very well with a lot of great teams. It was nice to meet players, coaches and parents from the hawks and roadrunners. They are a great group of people. The support they provided as well as from the Ohio Ice (as always :)) was great and is what 10U softball should be about. Hope the rest of the season goes well for all those teams.

I had a feeling last week when I saw the Nitro play up in the 12U age group at the RIP-IT Challenge that they would be the team to beat at GAPSS this weekend. Thats what they were preparing for and it obviously paid off. That is a great rivalry between those two teams and it appears that the Nitro has really taken it up a notch. Looks like that 3:00pm match-up at Stingrays next saturday just got alot more interesting.

Wave, that is a good point .. I found something out this past week. We scrimmage our 12u - our pitcher throwing from 35 to them, theirs at 40ft to us. We hit the ball great, putting it in play most every batter and hitting some gaps. I was amazed. The 12u players took a few innings to dial in KK from 35 ft, eventually getting their knocks but it was much harder for them to hit than us. I talked to our girls afterwards and they told me the 12"ball at 40ft was much easier to get the bat on, even though their pitchers were throwing 'harder' ... does not surprise me at all that the Nitro hit 12u easily.. they ripped the Laser pitcher and she was around 58 or so... again, incredible.

Congrats to Nitro!! Your team hit the ball and hit the ball hard all weekend. Good luck at ASA Nationals.

The Olentangy group did a great job getting the fields ready and keeping the games on time.

We met a lot of great people from the Nitro and Hawks teams this weekend and enjoyed the competition on the field.

There was a quality group of young athletes there competing and leaving it all on the field this weekend. The 10U age group has some great teams this year and it will be fun to watch them grow up competing against one another.

We enjoyed seeing our friends from the Lasers and the Ice. Two quality organizations with great coaches. Good luck at Nationals. (Iceman you know our teams are going to end up playing each other down there.)

I agree with previous post that only upgrade to the GAPSS tourney would be if they put up temporary fences for 10U. It would take some of the judgment calls out of the umpires hands. There were some shots by the girls this weekend that would have been home runs had there been a fence.

Overall we had a great experience at GAPSS and hope to be back in the future.

I saw both games and I would say that the 5 games previoulsy that the lasers beat Nitro will be the last games they win against this team. Their hitting is above all teams and scoring 14 and 11 runs against one of the best 10u pitchers tells the story. Nitro is the team to beat in Nationals. Good Luck!!!

Indeed, Nitro is a great team. But dont count the Lasers out so fast. They were down a key player this weekend due to a broken hand. They will re group and be back!

I wanted to offer my heartfelt congratulations to the Nitro girls as well. They were pumped up the whole game in both matches against my dd's team. They had nearly flawless defense and did a great job of putting the ball in play. It appeared they were truly enjoying themselves playing a great game of softball. Best of luck with the remainder of your season girls!
