High School Team looking for a Tournament in March

Need assistance. My daughter's high school team, in Ohio, is searching for a tournament to play in during the week of March 25, 2007. Last year we traveled to Myrtle Beach during their spring break in April. In 2007, their spring break is in March. The Grand Strand, and Lady Braves, in Myrtle, are held in April. If you know of any tournaments in warm weather during the week of March 25, 2007. Please reply to this post.

Thanks

Re: High School Team looking for a Tournament in M

It is not a tournament, but you play teams from all over the US at Cocoa Beach, Fl. Google the Cocoa Expo and you will get all the information about this setup. Many HS teams from Ohio go there for spring break softball. The games you play count against the 27 allotted. (Scrimmage are not allowed out of state)

Johnnies,
Thank you for the information regarding Cocoa Expo. ?I forwarded the inforation to the head coach. ?Also, to anyone. ?Does anyone have any Pros-Cons to the Cocoa Expo.

Jeff,
I don't have the contact name for the Lady Braves with me today. ?However, I will get it and forward it to you in a private message.

Creek1024,
Thank you for the information on Destin - Do you have the name of the tournament? - any pros-cons on Destin?

Thanks

Personally I liked Destin better than Cocoa. The Cocoa Expo included the girls' meals, and I believe required you to stay in selected hotels (ours wasn't all that great). In Destin, you were free to choose your hotel, but the meals weren't included. We played several Ky. teams while in Destin, but you could also play some of the Florida teams (who will be on about their 20th game BTW) - also note that Florida is using the 43' pitching distance.

The pros of the Cocoa Expo.

They take care of everything and will schedule games and practices based on what you prefer(dates, times, number of games- etc) You can also schedule pitching machine use.

For the most part they match up schools by size to keep the competition on the level.

Provides meals and hotels for the team.

All you do is show up and play or practice.

Time off - there is a beach nearby and things for the girls to do.

Cons:
Call the hotel they schedule you to stay at and make sure the pool is in working order. (Last time we went it was "under construction") You can also stay at their dorm, which is part of the complex.

Ron Jon Surf Shop - will suck the spending money out of a team faster than you can draw a breath.

Boys play baseball at the Expo at the same time and may stay at the same hotel. Need someone to keep an eye on the girls (and boys).

I'll have to dig out my notes to see if I still have the contact information, but the games move around to different high schools (generally within 30 minutes of the beach).

Both the Grand Strand and the Lady Braves are very good tournaments. The Grand Strand is probably better. The reason for my orginal post is that both those tournaments are held in April. This year my DD's spring break is in March. That is why I am trying to locate a good tournament during that month.

Thanks

Jeff,

You asked me for a contact for the Lady Braves. Unfortunately I don't have it. However, here is the name of the High School and address. You can probably GOOGLE it and get a phone number and ask for the high school coach.

Socastee High School
4900 Socastee, Blvd
Myrtle Beach, SC 29588

Hope that helps.
