Contact Tim at 353-3100 to see if he is having a league this year.
A few years back we use to have our travel players and some HS players play in the Sunday afternoon High School hitting league at Miami Lakes Sports Complex 8073 Furlong Drive Miami Town Ohio 45041.

We live maybe 20 min from there, spent many hours pitching there with my daughter.

Do you have any info on the league? ...Age groups (looking for 12U), live pitching or machine?

This is what they sent me.

"Tony,

We are working on putting together a hitting league at our facility this winter. We are still waiting to gauge the interest level of our clients before we begin to advertise this class. We also offer hitting classes with top of the line instructors as well as a hitting membership that would allow your daughter to come in and hit as much as she wants as long as there is 24 hours notice. If you would like information on any of these options you can visit our website at www.cbsacademy.com or I would be happy to answer any questions I can.

Thanks,
Steeler Hundley"

Field of Dreams will be having a winter hitting league off of machines and also live hitting league. We are located in Lancaster and boast an 8,000 square foot indoor facility that is available for indoor practices, hitting leagues, lessons, clinics, etc.

We would be interested in a 12u league too.

These leagues are fun for the ladies and a great way to challenge themselves. The leagues we participated in were called Winter H.S. Hitting league that ran from Early January to mid Feb 6 weeks. They were open to all ages and were comprised of teams of 4. If a player did not have a team the league director would take all ladies not on a team and form them. It was always packed because he also did boys baseball and Mens slow pitch leagues during the same time at $40 a team I am sure it was worthwhile for them.

My DD started when she was 10. She was on a team with HS age ladies and held her own. Scoring was done by a facility employee using a series of numbers on the back wall that the ladies tried to place the ball in.
All ground balls exiting the cage was worth one point and the ladies had to bunt the first pitch fair before scoring started. Lower targets and targets at the top were 2 or 3 points, 4 and 5 point targets were place in-between midway up the back wall. A swing and miss or foul ball or one in the box of the back of the cage was a 0.

Miami lakes had pitching machine balls with a little red seam, some were dimple and some worn seamless and with a seam.
With wheeled machines it created additional challenges for the hitters since they did not see many of the 12 pitches at bat in the same spot again and again. One machine was set to pitch between 60-65 mph the other between 45 and 50 at about 50 feet.
The last time we did a hitting league was 2012 and the league had 8 teams of four hitting on Sunday afternoons starting at 5pm, 6,pm,7pm,8pm. I know Tim also worked with some teams that had ladies that worked and could not make the early times so their team only hit at 8pm or, a player could stop in through the week and pre hit if she could not make a day.

League champs got T-shirts. I would think if you had a facility in your area and a couple organizations interested 6-8 teams of 3 or 4 ladies you could start a league pretty easy.

The Miami Valley Xpress 05 would be interested in a "live pitching" league.

FYI, My email from CBS academy says they will have adults flipping the ball underhand, no actual live pitching.

For those interested this is the email that I received from Steeler Hundley of CBS

CBS INAUGURAL HITTING LEAGUE!!
A fun hitting experience for kids of all ages

download

WHEN: Every Friday, Dec. 2 - Dec. 30 from 7pm - 9pm

WHERE: CBS Academy

WHO: Must have a team of 3 or 4 players to compete

WHAT: The hitting league is hitting game where real life at-bats are simulated in batting cages. Each batter will start with a 2-1 count and will work to get a hit by placing the ball in certain areas of the cage. There will be designated areas for a single, double, triple, and homerun. But, be careful, if you hit a groundball or pop-fly you will be out. The games will last 7 innings. At the end of the month we will add up the total score for each team and the team that wins will win a prize.

*The league will cost $50 per player*

I received a call from Steeler Hundley of CBS saying they will not be doing a hitting league because of the lack of players.
