Looking for information about having a home run contest at a fastpitch event. Curious about how it is done. For example, who does the pitching, how many pitches, distance to fence etc, and nay differences by age group. Also looking for any feedback on whether such an event would be welcomed or considered a waste of time.

Thanks,
bob

We did one at the midwest WS four years back.

The Hitter supplies a pitcher (most of the ones there it was dad)
The hitter gets 12 pitches thrown anyway from 40 feet so most dads just pitched slow pitch underhand and that seemed to mess with the hitters timing not to mention most dads could not throw a strike.
The Fence was a little closer than 200 foot away for the older ladies. and the younger ones seemed to hit about 40 feet closer to the fence.
If you decide to do this have a safety screen for the pitcher and cap the number of hitters when we did it there must have been 50 or more waiting to hit.
if I was running it I would allow soft toss.
