Home run or an out

Saw this happen today in Pickerington. Runner on first, next batter hits a homerun over the fence. As the batter is rounding third she misses the base. When appealed the field ump stated it does not matter because she hit it over the fence. What is the correct call? I believe that she is ruled out. What about the base runner of first. Does that run count? I do not recall how many outs there were at the time.

Shes out!! If it didn't matter, they wouldn't make them run the bases. This isn't mens slow pitch. I don't have the rule right in front of me, but she should have been called out on the appeal. If there are less than 2 outs, the runner at first would count. Not sure if there are 2 outs, what the call would be, I assume the run would score.

I would have an out call on the appeal and one run scored.

All bases (even awarded bases, and a home run is a four-base award) must be run in a legal manner. That is, they must all be touched and touched in the correct order.
Since this appeal was on the batter at third base, any runs that scored ahead of the appeal count, regardless of the number of outs. The "twist" if there are two outs involves a batter who misses first base and is then properly appealed. In that case, the appeal would mean that the third out was made by the batter-runner before touching first, thus negating any runs that scored.
