How "great" is great?

Help the newbie! Other than by word-of-mouth how can you find out how "great" a team or organization is? Is there a list or rating scale out there somewhere for supposed "elite" teams? Just curious.

Anyways, the term "elite" tends to float around teams that have incredibly crowded tryouts, have very tough summer schedules, and are generally hard to make the cut. Go to Tournament Webpages and see who consistently makes the semifinals. Check out the National Tournaments and see which Ohio teams go late in the brackets. That's essentially the poor-man's rating scale. As a newbie, maybe your DD is younger. Get her into her first season. You will figure it out pretty quickly.
