How lost have you gotten traveling to a game?

I got lost trying to find Tealtown Park for the first time. I left, with my mapquest directions, in what should have been plenty of time to arrive at the park and watch a few games beforehand. Not a chance, I drove all over the place trying to find Tealtown Rd. I swallowed my pride and stopped at the UDF in Milford to ask. "Never heard of it." Twelve customers, 2 truck drivers later I got a "I think it is down this here road". Seeing the time ticking away - I headed down "this here road". I drove and I drove on country roads until I saw another convenient store with a parking lot overflowing with cars. Yep - everyone was stopping for the same reason - "Where is Tealtown Rd".

It turned out that the convenient store was on the corner of "This here road and Tealtown Rd." Just about everyone who stopped for directions bought something to alleviate their guilt for troubling the clerks.

BYW Mapquest s_ucks.

I'm partial to Google Maps. You can even switch to satellite and zoom right into the ballfields if the satellite pics zoom that far.

I usually use Google maps too but I've found times when Microsoft's Live.com has better aerial imagery. Here's an example of one of the complexes we were at last summer in Zanesville:

I do like the acutal aerial view that you can zoon in on sometimes for looking at your final destination so you actually see the parking lots, driveway, and where in a park or school the field is at. I think it saves some last minute wandering around.

apparently there is something "weird" about interstate 76 and getting into akron?? husband took my dd there for the 2nd day in a row...hehehe...got lost and started seeing signs for cleveland. he calls me, i tell him to turn around...he says, "no, i think i'm getting close"....dd hollering in the background....then asks me to google directions and let him know.... about this time i mention the fact he has ONSTAR in the damn vehicle.
sad sad sad.....
he's getting a gps for his birthday.
he has taken several hunting trips out west where a gps is mandatory to survive...and he can't find akron.
;D

The night my wife and I got married, second time in two months, she left Milford to drive to Carrolton, Kentucky (towards Louisville on I-71 South) and ended up in Lexington. She then took "Deliverence" directions and tried to cut her way through the woods like Daniel Boone. Finally she got to Carrolton late that evening and the minister had to be retreived again to marry us so my best friend could be my best man as he was ill and not going to make the October 10th wedding .

Yes, I married my wife three time in four months. June 10th, August something and Ocotber 10th. August 29th... Don't ask.... lol ... Just remember the poor soul ( me ) that has to remember 3, repeat , 3 anniversaries. I have them etched inside my wedding band so I don't forget.

We only seem to get lost in OHIO hio hio hio...... We had the next exit syndrome.

Started off getting directions from Google Maps for the Toledo Classic Tournament. We decided to come down the night before because it was a 5 hour drive from our igloo up here and didn't want to take a chance on getting stuck at the border or what have and be late for our fist game (Ya, the game that the other team ended up not showing up to and forfeiting.... huh. they owe me $100 bucks). Well, needless to say, google maps sent us on a wild goose chase trying to find our hotel in Holland. After about 50 minutes, we managed to get to it only to find out that had we stayed on the highway for one more exit, voila, we would have hit it right on the head. Stayed up until 2:00 am to make sure that the others who decided to come down that night made it in and called the rest of the team to tell them that the directions I sent them where wrong.

Trip two to Ohio.... Beautiful Ashtabula.
Well, after the last fiasco, we decided not only to look up directions from Google maps but Map quest and yes Microsoft live maps. After carefully verifying that all 3 mapped the same directions I again sent them out to the team. We again headed off on our journey the night before hoping to take an easy ride and maybe have a nice meal (Gotta Love Quacker Steak and Lube Erie PA). Well, after the nice meal we took our appropriate exit and turn off of that exit and landed in the middle of no where. 2 1/2 hours of driving around in the pitch dark, no street lights, no pay phones, heck, no businesses to stop at. At last we finally saw another vehicle. Taking no more chances and not wanting to run out of gas, I turned on my 4 ways, open up the van windows, waiving our arms, honking the horn and flashing the lights, this wonderful woman pulled over to our aid. I guess she figured that the freaks with the painted graffiti team van and a waving Canadian Flag flapping at the back couldn't have been that scarey. We showed her the maps, the name of the hotel and where we where going. She looked at us and started to laugh. Needless to say, we had to spend another 35 minutes to get back to where we cut off and take yes, take the next exit off of the highway and by gosh what was standing right there but our hotel. The hotel clerk just shook his head and said that nobody can map their area. Was up late again that night calling everyone to tell them to ignor my directions and to take the next exit.

Next tournament, I handed them the address of the hotel and parks and said your on your own. ::)

Got lost trying to find Patterson Park in Dayton. I had directions from Google maps, but a local at the hotel said there was a better way. Going through Dayton with a train of about 10 cars lost.
trying not to get seperated at lights , pulling into a gas station to ask for directions with cars hanging out into the intersection. Parents mad, girls embarrassed. I've got chest pains just writing about it.
[smiley=shocked.gif] Should have went with google

I think that was the name. We were there for the John Wells Memorial. Played the first night at Riverside Park(?) and this complex for the rest of the weekend.

i blame you, ofc!

okay, on the way to tipp city, i'm thinking 75 to dayton...so, i go south instead of north, hit a traffic jam and get to exit 51 or so before my dd says, "dad, the exit numbers are getting smaller"..i'm practically in kentucky! so, i high-tail it around, finally get to 75 north and end up 15 minutes late for warm-ups!
