During one of the discussions later in the game, the announcers were discussing that game has historically been dominated by schools and conferences in warmer climates like California, Arizona, Texas and the Southeast. However in recent years we are seeing marked improvements in schools in the colder climates, such as Michigan. Not only did they credit the excellent coaches all over, but it was also mentioned that the recent spike in the availability of indoor practice facilities allows players all over the country the opportunity to hit, even when there is snow on the ground. Of course, the collegiate programs have had indoor facilities for years, but it wasn't until the last few years that public indoor practice facilities began sprouting up all over the area. That will help raise the bar for all local kids.

Great info about the indoor facilities but then you ruined it with the the shameless plug... In all seriousness it is amazing how many indoor facilities their are now. That allow both girls and boys to play all winter long.

There are literally dozens of indoor facilities throughout the state. We are honored to be among them, and we look for more to open. The ease of availability will help the entire sport get better.
