I just read a notification today that out of 8 sports there are now only 3 and baseball/softball is one of the 3 remaining for bids to the 2020 Olympics. Could it be softball has a better stand now after today or is it just wishing?

Can not imagine how wrestling will not win out.
I suspect that this whole process was a fix to protect some of the current weaker offerings that are already in the Olympics.
They knew that if the put wrestling on the block, that wrestling would win out and protect: Badminton, Modern Pentathlon, Handball.
Wrestling is an active sport in over 90% of all countries on the globe. While those 3 are something like 5%.
