If there is, at what age does it go into effect?

Thank you!

Ohio (4) but unlimited between End of HS Season to July 31st. Incoming Freshman would not count towards the (4)

Unless they played middle scholl ball as 8th graders - in which case they would count

So I thought I knew this rule fairly well, but this is a different way of looking at it than what I am used to. I thought the "squad" referred to the rule would not cross between school buildings...meaning the middle school has a squad, and the high school has a squad. High school may have more than one squad (freshman, JV, Varsity) but because they regularly move players around they should be counted a one squad. If I had 3 girls that played at the local high school and three girls that played at the local middle school, I thought they could play on the same summer team because they do not, and would not, play on the same squad together in school. Am I wrong on this or is it up for interpretation?

I read it the same as you do that Middle school is separate from high school. My comment was meant that the limit of 4 per school only applies to middle school if the middle school team is ohsaa sanctioned/school sponsored. If the middle school team is a club the limit of 4 does not apply. You can have a team with as many 7th and 8th graders as you would like.
