I've been banned from the Tristate Forum - For helping promote Softball...

EDITED AND CORRECTED>>>

Any of you from WPA and NEO are probably familiar with the crap hole site we have to deal with for Softball news and information in the Pittsburgh Region - You probably also know it's run by someone who finds it more important to hold grudges against people and organizations than actually help the softball community.

Yesterday I was Banned from the site and my posting privileges revoked because I posted two posts -

A Gentleman posted that he was not able to put up his organizations try out schedule - It kept getting taken down and that after three attempts to post it he was kicked off the site - (He was able to reregister and get back on but didn't understand why this was happening) So in an act of what I suppose is civil disobedience I put up a post making fun of the fact that the Monitor had done this.
I posted three of the words you can not post on the site (literally it will not allow you to post these three words you have to change letters to post them)

They are inexplicably and in no particular order
<<RESTRICTED CONTENT PLEASE LOOKAWAY IF YOU ARE EASLY OFFENDED>>

Bill Hillhouse
Pittsburgh Power
USSSA

Shocking and provoking words - I Know...

In the second Post I posted his tryout schedule

Now don't get me wrong I understand it's their site and they can do what ever they want, Team IMPACT has been around for along time and I'm sure they have helped the community with this site and through other things they do. But - The pettiness is ridicules. I am not involved with Pittsburgh Power in any way but I know a lot of the people in the organization and they are concerned with promoting softball. Say what you want about them they do a lot for the softball community and the community at large and do not deserve to be shut out of a key communication outlet because of pettiness

I thank God for people like Rickey and the OFC for the way this site is run - I see more and more WPA information showing up on here and will be happy when it is the go to place for Both Ohio and Western PA softball

Just needed to vent that - Thanks

I have Posted the POWER tryout schedule on the OFC Tryout page http://www.thesoftballzone.com/showthread.php?58079-Pittsburgh-power-tryouts&p=486489#post486489 because I could - Thanks again OFC

Cobb, I was following that post . I do not understand why Pittsburgh Power cannot post anything on that site. There is over 30 teams that have posted tryouts on that page. I also am not connected to Power or anyway. My daughter has made a couple friends on those teams. and we played in 2 great tournaments they hosted , one being a fund raiser for a good cause. I too spend more time on this site now , heck 1/2 the tournaments I hope we play in next year will be in Ohio anyway :)

Evidently there is bad blood between Impact or NSA and Power - but Dang it's been years and all they want to do is post information. there are much bigger schmucks that get to post -
the funny thing on that site is what gets taken down and what doesn't.

Once there was a bad back and forth on there about something stupid - it had name calling and all kinds of nastiness - I responded that the fighting on that site was stupid and we should all work together for the good of the softball community - My post of course was taken down...

Re: I've been banned from the Tristate Forum - For helping promote Softball...

I have an idea on why our call letters are banned. Zach Green who was/is with Impact was the NSA state director over that way for a long time. I'm sure he didn't like USSSA taking Jeff Moose away from him a few years back so he made it where you couldn't post our letters on the site.

Funny stuff but I hear or see it almost daily. COYBL which is the big youth baseball league here in central Ohio wouldn't even let me sign up to get the newsletter when I was with NSA/BPA. I switch last fall and now they give me a log in since they are now dual sanctioning with USSSA & Nations Baseball. Whatever indiscretion I did must have healed up by changing the letters on my hat. :)

I recommended Hillhouse to someone on there a few years ago and was promptly escorted (banned) from the site. That guy is doing nothing to clear the stigma attached to WPA softball.

It's really a shame because Softball is really fairly vibrant and growing in the area and the face of it is that site - and it's sad.
Several people have tried to start rival sites but it's hard to get the critical mass - to be able to draw people to the site.

When asked by anyone where they should post any softball announcements I always say OFC - and I hope the PA side of this site grows exponentially

Cobb, we've been trying to work on a way to separate the forums using the current forum software. Its not a easy task. We have to rewrite the forum code so it's works the way we want it to work.

My idea is that each state would have its own forum runner under one install of the current forum software.

They would all share the sections that aren't state related.

Then the state would have its state info in each states section.

Once done it would end up looking like this.

thesoftballzone.com/ohio/
thesoftballzone.com/pennsylvania/
thesoftballzone.com/newyork/
thesoftballzone.com/westvirgina/
thesoftballzone.com/kentucky/
thesoftballzone.com/michigan/
thesoftballzone.com/indiana/

We've been close but had to rewrite some code that kelp acting up.

I think all states sharing the common section and then each state forum only have content that is specific within each state is the key to a multi state board or regional board.

By the way I really like the fact that you are always sharing information about this site. It's almost 100% sure fire way to keep the site growing not just in guest but gaining new active members.

This would be great - I would love to see this come to pass
Do you have any idea now how much traffic you are getting now from out of state? - I have to assume you get plenty of people from the border states. I'm fairly sure everyone associated with Softball in WPA is at least familiar with this site.

I do like the idea of regionalizing - I enjoy the national boards but you get lost sometime in the minutia of other regions tournaments and organizational information, Places and Teams you are Never going to play.

I ran afoul with that site once. My infraction was commenting on the new Dick's Summer catalog that featured some WPA softball players. I commented that one of the players was from the "Power." My post was immediately removed. I wasn't sent to "Banned Camp" but it ticked me off. I inquired...not knowing the childishness behind my post's deletion... and that post was removed too. I received a PM from another user who let me in on the juvenile drama of the site owner. Maybe this explains why that site's traffic is embarrassingly low.
I think it averages 1 new thread a week.

Oh well, for some, High School never ends.
