Coming up on the last year of the Toledo City League's existance, how do you thnk the softball programs will finish out? Several schools lost some key players, including Clay, so it may shake things up a bit. Let's hear your predictions:yahoo:

I am sticking with Clay again. Labardee will do just fine... still have the slappers and speed that is always so dangerous.
Both CCHS and Notre Dame will have coaches in their second year at their schools so we should expect good things from both.
Whitmer may be a little inexperience on pitching but they have some power coming up. Their feeder program should start paying off thanks to their Panther program who has been active Summer, Fall, Winter and Spring over the past couple of years.
Breaking up the TCL may be the best thing that happened to the top teams in the league.

Clay, CCHS, and Notre Dame have the pitching to win the TCL. The one to develope a line up after the #3 hitter will be the best bet. What do those three have for position players?

SUA with Ammons on the mound, and another quality hitter in Freshmen Richberg should still contend. Laberdee had a nice summer under Coach Snyder, so i'd agree they should be tough.

It's sad seeing the City league break up, both public and private schools brought good things to different sports, and it was the only mix of both private and public in the state I believe. As a former TCL coach, I hate to see it fall apart, and the remaining league for public schools will really be deficient in many, many sports.

Bowsher was a bit of a thorn in the side for several TCL teams last year...most notably in the case of them beating NDA at the end of the season and knocking NDA out of the TCL final four tournament. Now their coach is also in her second season there and even greater improvements will probably be in place.

Ok before I make my comments, I'm going to leave my Panthers out of the conversation other then to say they are going to be good and will feature the best non slapper hitter in the league, Steph Andrews is a pure hitter and a really underrated player, she's very good. Those that know me, know I love Whitmer and I'm a Homer....so

I like NDA this year, They return their pitcher/catcher combo and IMO the best incoming freshman in Cassidy Gillispie.

Clay was hit very hard by graduation, imagine playing Clay last year without Graham, Stibby and Simon in the middle of that line-up. They still have Crawford and Holmes but lost 3 stellar bats, 4 solid to great infielders.

SUA lost their leader in Tori Allen.

So my preseason prediction.

1) NDA

2-6 will be between Clay, Whitmer, Central, SUA and Bowsher.

Just my 2 cents in December, as I gather more information, I will adjust my top 4 lol.

Uber, who will be pitching for Whitmer?

Not sure, there are 2 young pitchers that have been working weekly with Gillis, the information I've received from biased people is the 2 young pitchers have made tremendous strides, time will tell. For their sake I hope the reports are accurate.

Uber, do you think that Laberdee, Seiler, Inman, and Ammons should be able to shut down Whitmer's offense who lost two outstanding offensive players from last year? Or have they replaced them with like players?
