"Lou & Shorty" Situational Showdown - Fastpitch Showdown Tournament June 14-16, 2013

Have you heard of the new tournament in Dayton at Kettering Field? It's put on by Bill Beckham and Fastpitch Showdowns. Funny name, but appears to be a unique opportunity early in the season to work on defense and baserunning. 5 GG. The format is as follows:
1st Inning - Runner on 1st
2nd Inning - Runner on 2nd
3rd Inning - Runner on 3rd
4th Inning - Runners on 1st & 2nd
5th Inning - Runners on 1st & 3rd
6th Inning - Runners on 2nd & 3rd
7th Inning - Bases Loaded

Lou Desaro is actually in the Dayton Amateur Baseball Commission Hall of Fame. Shorty (Clyde Brewer) has been the Dayton ASA Commissioner since before I was born. Together they have dedicated over 50 years to ASA and the Dayton area, running countless men's, women's and youth leagues and tournaments. I guess Bill decided to acknowledge that by naming this new tournament after them.

Personally I think its a great idea. Making it a tournament style format also gets the girls playing serious. I could see trying this in practice, but the pressure just isn't there to execute. DD's team is in Lasers, otherwise, it would be a good experience.
