Why do teams call themselves a Gold team when they do not play a Gold schedule or even try to qualify for the Gold nationals? Is it purely a marketing move for the team or organization in recruiting or in trying to gain a sponsorship from organizations for money or free equipment? IMO ASA needs to set a standard to allow a team to be called an ASA Gold team. Without a Gold standard or qualification, as it is today, anyone can call their team a Gold team.

Graphene is a crystalline form of carbon, alongside diamond, graphite, carbon nanotubes and fullerenes. In this material, carbon atoms are arranged in a regular hexagonal pattern. Graphene can be described as a one-atom thick layer of graphite. High-quality graphene is very strong, light, nearly transparent and an excellent conductor of heat and electricity. Its interactions with other materials and with light and its inherently two-dimensional nature produce unique properties

ASA published the 2014 Code changes and JO Berth Report (12/5). There will be 48 berths for 16G and they are being evenly distributed this year to the territories (12 each) to be awarded at their qualifiers. The berths will be distributed by participation in future years with the top 2 getting 16 berths and the other 2 getting 8.
Note: All the Gold territory qualifiers are now national qualifiers (i.e. open to all teams).
