Was there supposed to be a new rule in effect this year about making it mandatory that all 1st and 3rd basemen and all pitchers wear a protective facemask? If anyone could give me more information that would be simply wonderful.

Thanks, PinballWizard

I hope there isn't a rule......It should be personal preference..........

As far as I know nothing like that made it to a vote at any of the major sanctioning bodies....

J J Huddle has an active discussion that keeps bringing this conversation up. They are pushing to get this in high school, but nothing has happened. My DD has one, since she is pitching, and after what happened in Bloomington Ind last year, It was my choice as the father. She still is getting use to it. I think a mouth piece is more important in the infield., and after talking to the dentist after she got braces it don't want to shell out the $$$ again! I think it should be a choice. We all want to spend money on the new bats, so we have to protect out kids.

At the QDSN this past weekend I overheard some college coaches asking the same question. They sort of made it sound like it was being discussed on a high school level or college level?????
