Mini & Crystal, The Battle in Barlow would be ideal, I will definitely pursue that tourney next year, this year was a little to soon.
gprice: Yeah centerville is about a 4 hour drive for us, we are trying to stay under two hours drive.
Eric: we only put together a 12u team this year unfortunately, next year we may put together more teams if we can identify tourneys close enough to make it worthwhile. If in my talks I find a team that shares similar desires I will pass along your information.
Honestly I am just really surprised there is nothing in the cleveland area that is rec only, clearly there is interest from the rec directors I have spoken with and plenty of sizable local leagues who could produce true all-star teams. The problem with the tourneys that are in the area is the majority of the teams are premier/travel teams in the tourneys, most rec leagues do not want to put true all-star teams up against these teams to get run ruled in 3 innings by teams that have been recruiting and practicing year round.
Next season I hope to change this by helping to bring a rec only all-star fastpitch tourney to the east side of cleveland just due to the lack thereof.
I am still looking for another tournament or two to enter our 12u all-star team in this July , Aug. , sept., Oct. if anyone comes across anything that a all-star team can compete in and not be demolished. We're a pretty good team and are scheduled to play a usssa tourney in the meantime, wish us luck!
