The Ohio Hawks will be fielding a 12u team based out of North Central Ohio. Tim Seamon and AJ Young will be coaching the team, AJ will be a non-parent head coach, whose daughter, Madison, a player on our 18u Gold team will be heading to play for DII Blackhills State in the fall.

The plan for the team is to follow the blueprint prior Hawks Gold teams have established that has resulted in over 70 players committed or having played college softball in the past 4 years. Over 20 Ohio Hawks have played or are committed to Division I programs since 2014.

The requirements will be steady and consistent practice, along with individual hitting and pitching lessons in the off season. We would like to draw players from north of Columbus, over to Toledo and towards Cleveland.

The Hawks Gold teams compete in the best showcase tournaments in the mid-west - we are established participants in the Super Pools at the Diamond 9 in Orlando, Scenic City in Chattanooga, Tn and others. We have strong college coach relationships that will be invaluable in getting your daughter recruited at the appropriate time.

This particular team will play in the Dayton Metro, ASA State, Scenic City, GAPSS among other tournaments next summer.

If you would like to know more - please email Coach Young or Coach Seamon at CoachYoung@OhioHawks.com or CoachSeamon@OhioHawks.com. They will be announcing tryouts soon, and will be glad to come watch your daughter play this summer to evaluate if you approve. This will all be handled very discreetly of course.

Check out or history at www.OhioHawks.com - there you will see the list of Hawks players that have college offers or playing in college.

Also follow our teams at https://www.facebook.com/OhioHawks all season long.

Parents and players do not miss out on this opportunity! Coach Young is an amazing coach! My family has known AJ and his family for several years. He is brutally honest and most definitely a straight shooter, and as a parent that's a trait I admire in a coach. AJ has always been a huge softball mentor to our daughter (who plays 14U) and to us (her parents) as well. He is very knowledgeable and very passionate about softball and any girl who gets the opportunity to play for him will definitely be on the right path for softball success! If your daughter aspires to play college ball then you need to try out for his team. If my daughter was younger she would definitely play for AJ. Best of luck to you Coach Young and your future 12U Hawks Gold team

I am dedicated and focused on putting the best 12u team together as possible with the drive to teach these young girls mental toughness, how they conduct themselves on and off the field and what true sportsmanship is about . Win or lose we will hustle on or off the field at all times we will shake and say thank you to every umpire after every game regardless of any situation . I will teach these girls that making a error is ok but let's learn from it and let's correct it . I believe that at this age girls need fundementals and repetition over & over . I also believe that at 12u girls need to start learning responsibility and respect for there teammates and there family's and others . This is just a little bit of my coaching stile and beliefs in becoming a Hawks Gold 12u coach . Thank you for your time .

Top 10 Tips for Players at Tryouts:

1. Dress like a ball player. Wear softball pants; not shorts. Wear a shirt with your last name on it; not a nickname. If you don't have a shirt with your name, where something bright and/or as unique as possible. Please wear cleats; not tennis shoes.
2. Smile. Act like there's no place in the world you would rather be.
3. Talk. Talk with the coaches, other players, on the field and encourage those around you. Look everybody you talk with in the eyes and be a good listener as well.
4. Hustle. Whether running onto the field, getting ready to hit or going through drills, hustle and give 100% (with a smile and while talking).
5. Leader. Be up front and center. Don't stand in the back or be the last player in the group to go through your drills/stations.
6. Take risks. Tryouts are not a place to play it safe. Dive, layout for balls, make off-balanced and hurried throws if you must, swing hard; no wimpy swings. Go big or go home!
7. Be self-sufficient. Have everything you might need in your bag. Stay away from your parents. Don't talk with or even look at your parents during tryouts. They're being evaluated too and coaches do not want helicopter parents or parent coaches.
8. Look good failing. When you make an error, strikeout or mental mistake, forget about it immediately. Do not have a pity party. Build a bridge and get over it. Laugh it off if you must. And no matter what, do not have a pity party. Some of the most impressive things I've ever seen have been the effort that some players made while failing.
9. Ask Questions. If there is something you are unsure of or need clarification on, ask. Do not be quiet and/or shy.
10. Have fun! Let there be no doubt to all those watching that you're having fun playing a game you love, regardless of the outcome! Breathe, relax and be confident. Know that you're giving it your best effort.

With coach Brickner on board with myself and coach Seamon leading this team , I feel that this is going to be a great team and a great experience going forward . GO Hawks
