In tourney's great hitting teams can 'not hit' during a game for various reasons - putting them out .. great defensive teams almost alway's play great defense - all the time. The other team can't take that strength away from them...
I was hoping for some debate on the post I made earlier where I said ...
The way I look at the math though is that if one player hits .350 and another hits .250, that's only one more hit every 10 at bats, or about one every 3 games. If those two play the same position defensively and the .250 hitter can take away a hit per game from the other team (or make one less error), she is going to be much more valuable to my team. You don't win the game scoring runs ... you win scoring more runs than the other team.

CarMad ... definitely agree, in terms of looking at more than just batting average ... I guess the point is I am trying to compare/balance batting and defensive performance ... if Player A gets on base 1 or even 2 more times per 10 plate appearances than Player B, but Player B makes a play or avoids an error every game that Player A would have made, aren't you better off with Player B?
Incredible I guess I can contribute in a good way!
I can complain with the best of em' ---- KY down 3 in the 6th with (according to ESNP) a power hitter up to bat, runners on 1st and 3rd , no out and KY attemps a squeeze. WTH ?
Then in the next inning the 2nd baseman throws it past the pitcher just returning the ball to the circle, allowing Ga an extra base.
And whats up with 190 ft fences ? Geez 10u's hit it that far , back that thing up about 30 feet. MD
Oh yeah I actually heard the " pitch too high she did'nt like it" cheer. I like some chatter but it would be nice if it's something different than what the young kids use.
You will need to move The fence back a lot more then 30 feet, cause I've seen 11u's hit it that far......:lmao:....jk
