We played a couple 50 min games, won a couple , lost one, but playing 2-3 innings is not a softball game, more like a ..... ?? I don't know what to call it , lots of girls played a game with one or zero AB's. Why not play a reasonable time limit and finish the games at 7-8 pm , instead of shorting the girls and having the finals set for 3 pm ? They acted like making the state semi finals a hour and 15 time limit was a great gift . sad sad weekend for most folks . MD

FWIW The Lasers Gold were playing doom 95 in one semi, The Rays were playing the classics in the other semi. Rays caught a sweet draw. MD

After pulling out of Columbus at 8:00 Am on Friday - We ( Central Ohio Lady Vipers ) played our first [highlight]scrimmage[/highlight] on Sunday @ 7:00 AM against the Doom '96. At Bottom of the third we were down 3-1 - bases juiced - no outs - we are home team - Then the defense gets adjusted around ( takes about 2-3 Min. ) Ok next batter up Still no outs - bases loaded - game called because of our 50 min. time limit. we lose 3-1. Next game - CO Lady Vipers vs. Cincy Static - Tied up at 1 run each - this time we are visitors - Bottom of the 4th. 3 1/2 minutes left out of our allotted 50 minutes, tied but tie breaker is most base runners that made it to 3rd. They had 2 more than us so it really didn't matter what we did from this point on the game was over. Very hard to explain those losses to our girls. Not taking anything away from our competition but it sure is tough to earn some respect under those circumstances.

Although the tourney was a disaster I think the final 4 were a true depiction of the top teams , with the exeption of the Wild Things and Static who fit with all the above.

Tip me hat to the Gold. What a great final. Back and forth till the final inning. Your girls made some great plays. Hope to get a rematch at Stingrays this weekend. Great job girls on both teams.

I normally don't post and enjoy everyone's comments...

But I agree - The tournament was a disaster! Some of the fields were still a mess, but when we see 3 fields at 3:00 on Saturday lined and ready to go with no games - that's a problem. One field (Diamond #12 had 2 umpires sitting at the field without a game - NO GAMES were played on that field) TEAMS WERE THERE READY TO PLAY! We could have used that one field and played all the 50 min. pool play games on Saturday. Then you could have atleast played "regular" games (1 hr. 15 min. - single elimination) on Sunday without the homemade bracket 30 minutes before your next game. I just think the perception was not enough effort was made to get us playing - should have had more people out there with dixie cups scooping off the water.

Congrats to the GREAT TEAMS in the finals! No matter what the format was - the best teams were still there at the end.

Congratulations to the Pickaway County Sting 12u B NSA state Champions , and to the Lasers Gold . There was some good softball in the semi's and finals in both groups .Tough conditions to play under for all included .

We might get to play each other this weekend, but we will be missing our winning pitcher in our game against your team. But, she will be back for the NSA World Series. So, maybe we can play each other there to get a true rematch.
