Hi Coaches/Team Contact,

On Sept 1, 2012, the NSA season will start over again. We will go into the 2012-13 qualifying season. What this means is that all teams will need to pay the $25 sanctioning fee again. This sanction fee covers the time period of 9/1 to 8/31/13. NSA went to this "fiscal year" schedule due to the changed nature of the FP qualifying season. Teams will have to do this and submit the online roster to be eligible to play in fall events.

Please note that NSA has tweaked their online system to give the option for a returning team to import in players from the previous year's roster right onto the new roster. A team can import over their 2012 roster information without having to input it again.

Steps to Import Previous Seasons Roster:

Step One:
During the sanction process, the returning coach would need to enter their previous seasons (2011-12) sanction number and e-mail. If you are a new coach with the same players, you do need the previous coaches e-mail info. Contact me if this holds you up and I can send it to you.

Step Two: Update the team and coach contact info. This is where you can make corrections to the coach and contact information. It is always a good idea to put a secondary contact. They will receive the NSA system e-mailers and also can be contacted in case of urgency.

Step Three: The roster selection boxes will appear. Check the boxes of the players who are committed to the team. ONLY choose the players you are putting on the team! There is no way to delete these players after the roster is approved. This would count against the players release rights and the teams roster spot count for the season.

Step Four: Pay the sanction fee via mail or use your credit card with PayPal. Once I receive the sanction fee, I can approve the roster. At this point you will receive an e-mail with the sanction number. This along with the password you create will allow you access to your team information and roster. Contact me if you have any questions or concerns about this new function.

Fall Roster Rules:

Teams will submit the roster they plan on participating in 2012-13 with. Teams also have the option after the fall season (11-1-12) to send a letter to the state office to disband the team. This would release the players and not jeopardize their roster status nor count as an official "release". If this is done, the team can not reform with more than 4 players as a core. If more than 4 are on a new team roster, this would be considered the same team and can not be disbanded.

Players also get up to two releases for the 2012-13 year: One release would have to be taken by 12/31/12 and the second would be thru 8/31/13. Please remember that the fall release is a "use-it-or-lose-it" type of release. If no release in the fall, the player would still get ONE release from 1/1/13 to 8/31/13. This is something to consider when players commit to the winter dome style tournaments. Also something to be aware of is that once a player has played on a Class A roster, they can not go to Class B during the Sept 1 to August 31 calender year. Think long and hard on pick ups because you may jeopardize a girl's NSA eligibility if she is normally rostered to a "B" team.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact me at mcraig@playnsaohio.com or 614-895-2253. To see our fall schedule, please go to www.playnsa.com and click on Tournament Search. Enter the new season, the state, and youth and click the submit/go button. If you have interest in hosting a NSA event, please also get with me as dates are starting to fill for the upcoming season.

We are also updating the 2013 schedule as dates are confirmed. If the tournament info says TBA, it means the date is solid, we are just waiting on the final information to update with.

Thank you,

Mike Craig
