# of players from schoo; ball on same travel team

I was told you could only have a certain number of girls from the same school on an AAU team. Are all "travel" teams considered AAU? Is the rule girls from the same school or girls playing on the school team? Would girls then play travel ball and abandon school ball? I know thats a lot, but I'm curious as to the rule. Thanks!
