So how did it go today?

Well was a good day and a bad day may have lost our starting pitcher for remainder of season right before we head to California :(

After girls got over the awe of playing the USA Jr National team which took them about 2 innings into the first game they played really well espicially the 2nd game a 4-1 loss that was 2-1 for most of the game on a Lexi Zappatelli HR off Barnhill. Man can she throw hard in 70's as well did Lowery from Missouri. They could bring it. These were difinitly woman what a difference a year of College can do for a girl.

GREAT day for our girls!!

Could it be Outlaws 18 Gold won or did USA juniors run rule them?

As much as I could say we won could not. See above

I really don't see a travel team beating them and honestly never thought we could, but was very proud to give them a game while we got all our players in includeing all our pitchers.

Thanks for your concern Run26

She was pitching and came down on her leg twisted her knee and heard a pop. USA trainer looked at her and advised her to go to Dr right away.

Those of us that have been around sports know a pop and pain in knee area is not good. Poor young lady was one of the top pitchers in the midwest two years ago and missed a year due to another injury and was just getting back to form.

She is a GREAT young lady and a true competitor so please keep her in your prayers.

ARTICLE ABOUT GAME

  • USA Junior Softball Team has all-around winning day at Hoover

Team USA's Jenna Lilley (left) high fives teammate Sydney Romero after the former Hoover player grounded out to drive in Jazmyn Jackson (rear) during the first game of a doubleheader Wednesday against the Ohio Outlaws 18U team at Goodpasture Stadium.

The hitting highlight came in the first inning of Game 2, against Barnhill. Outlaws first baseman Lexi Zappitelli crushed a 1-2 riser that cleared the left-field fence for the day’s lone home run. “I got the ball,” said a smiling Zappitelli afterward. The next pitch Barnhill delivered had fire, smoke and pop to it.
“I think it was 70 (miles per hour) for sure,” said Outlaws catcher Macy Cook, a 2015 Lake graduate headed to play at Wright State. “I’ve never hit off that good a pitcher.”
Cook showed off her own strong arm. She gunned down two runners try to steal. She also saw the USA team’s speed up close as they beat out numerous infield hits.
Jazmyn Jackson jacked a triple in the second inning of the opener and looked like a gazelle on the basepaths. She scored on Lilley’s groundout and also added a three-run double the next inning.

The Women’s Junior Team closed the game with two scoreless innings apiece with pitchers Johanna Grauer (UCLA) and Paige Lowary (Missouri). Grauer gave up a hit to Alyssa Irons, who had two of the Outlaws’ three hits on the day, while Lowary struck out five of six batters without allowing a hit.
“It’s an adjustment,” Cook said of facing Team USA pitching. “Very good speed; they throw hard. It’s good experience, for sure.”
It was that kind of day at Goodpasture Stadium.

What a great experience for the girls on the Outlaws Gold team!!! Have to say that simply watching the game was likely a once in a lifetime opportunity. Very impressed with the presence of TeamUSA's Jr National Team and very impressed with how the Outlaw girls handled themselves and competed. It was obvious that game two was much more relaxed as they seemed less intimidated. Seeing Zappitelli's no brainer bomb of a HR with 1-2 count was AWESOME! Kudos to North Canton Hoover for hosting it. Nice job Outlaws Gold 18u.!!

A little off topic but how do you think the JO team would do against Team USA?
