Ohio Slamforce 18U Premier will be holding OPEN tryouts FOR ALL POSITIONS on August 7th and August 14th at Early Hill Park, 120 E. Vine St Alliance Ohio from 4:30-7pm. You can register when you arrive or follow the link below to pre-register for the tryout date you will attend http://goo.gl/forms/4IjwcsPYpw8c1aVZ2 Please bring a player profile with you or feel free to email it in advance to scott@powersoilandpropane.com. This team will be geared towards the athlete who is or wants to be recruited to play college softball. Players will be required to attend camps, be in contact with college coaches, emailing schedules, have or make player profiles and skills videos.
In order to push the players and further enhance there training and recruit-ability, we are proud and excited to announce ALL of our players will receive weekly 2 hour team defensive training from fielding/defense expert, Bob Hoiles and ALL our players will receive weekly 2 hour offensive training with one of the best hitting instructors around, Lance Schmidt. Pitching and catching instruction will also be available to our athletes by former Division I players and instructors along with Speed & Agility classes through PBA Training. We believe this high level training is not commonly found in other organizations and we feel its imperative to continue developing our players so they can succeed at the collegiate level.
Head Coach for the 18U Premier team will be me, Scott Powers. I have head coached softball for 13 seasons, the last four as head coach of Maddogs Black team. This team has had multiple tournament wins included ASA states which they then went to ASA Nationals in San Diego California. They have attended the college showcase in St Louis last fall. Assistant coach, Mike Sirohman and I know how to help girls thru the recruiting process and we communicate with college coaches to promote our players. We will reinforce the training received from Bob and Lance and will also be doing video swing analysis, Zepp hitting tools and video fielding, running, etc. We believe strongly in SHOWING girls where they can improve.
We are excited to add Emily Schmidt to the coaching staff. Emily was a catcher/Third baseman who attended Louisville HS where she was all Conference, All district and All state player. While in HS she played for Lasers Scarlet earning 2nd at Colorado Sparklers and 5th at ASA Nats. She attended Malone University,where she just graduated with a BSN degree. While at Malone she was a scholar athlete 4 yrs, honorable mention her Fresh and Soph yrs the second team her junior and senior yrs. Emily had a collegiate career batting average of .354. She has worked with Lance Scmidt for the past 8 years and has been teaching hitting and catching the past 3 years. Emily will be a great role model, advisor, teacher and coach for our players.
This team will focus on Showcases and tournaments that will bring college exposure for the players. This Fall we will play at a invite only college weekend were we will play some college teams as well as high level travel teams and will look to do a showcase, probably Best of the best or Stingrays.
The summer schedule will look to include Lasers, GAPSS, Stingrays, Best of the Best and ASA States. Other posibilities will be Compuware, Aunt Rosie's or a trip to a larger showcase TBD by the team.
