Clinic was great, all the speaker sessions that I attended had good substance. After attending both of Bill Hillhouse's I am really surprised more pitching coaches don't teach his simplified and sensible style. I've been around fastpitch a long time but this was the first time I've actually heard him speak and explain his style and how and why he dos it this way. I was impressed

If Bill Hillhouse is right, then are all other pitching coaches wrong? I get what you mean. I too have seen his clinics and training sessions. I can't help but wage this battle in my head about his methods. I am by no means a pitching coach myself, just a pitcher's Dad who has heard it all and a very studious head coach.
I can't help but question his methods. Is he the quack or has he discovered the fastpitch Holy grail?
He certainly has a following and his success can't be argued.
So, I have to ask the question "Why?" Why don't other subscribe to his exact pitching technique if it is everything he says it is?
I SOOOOOOOO wish I could have attended this coaches' clinic. Unfortunately for me I had to be out of town on business so I couldn't attend. I wish the sessions were recorded for reply on fastpitch.tv.

I think some of it comes down to pure arrogance but probably more that people just don't like change. Bill doesn't preach speed as much as he does whip and spin. We all know speed turns heads. Heck, they preached the world was flat for 100s of years. This sport is no different. My dd started with Bill and is now in her 5th season with him. She loves him and his techniques. We have had people stop what they are doing to watch her pitch because you cannot pick her pitch. Her grip is the same for every pitch other than the rise and the ball is concealed the entire time until she is in her windmill. I've heard "others" preach they teach the safest pitching methods, but I can tell you that my dd has never complained of shoulder, elbow or arm pain UNLESS she over muscles the ball. I do believe we are seeing more people awaken to Bill's methods and more pitching coaches are trying to copy his styles, but as with all things it will take time.

I attended all of his sessions at the clinic. I really enjoy listening to him speak. If access to him was easier I would not hesitate to take my 11 year old daughter to him.

Bill has I believe at least 4 episodes on Fastpitch tv and you can watch them on you tube.
I have seen only a few pitchers around use his method of pitching. I am a big Doug Gillis
fan. Daughter attended his academy for about 8 years. He has pitching down to a science
and his style of pitching is very effective. I know for a few years his students pitching for
their HS's in Michigan won all the state titles in each division.
