Hitting and Hitters Discussion One arm training bats

Thanks for the clarification. I thought maybe you had sawed off an old aluminum bat and slid part of the dowel rod down into the handle portion.

I've made a couple of these in the past, but just not with the nice handle that is shown in your picture.

We had one of our kids here yesterday from Louisville and it took her about 20 minutes to get the hand path down and she started hitting the tennis balls up the middle. Then we put her on the WhipHit and soft tossed her and I do not know who was more surprised her or her dad. When she started hitting with the bat again you could tell the difference and hear the difference as she was hitting more with the sweet spot. It cuts training time down and builds muscle memory pretty fast in our opinion.

Iam very interested in making the 1 arm swing bat for our girls. What size PVC are you using. I understand the Schedule 80 for the thicker wall for support , what size 1/2" or 3/4 " ect.... The dowel rod fills the bottom 14.5" to make a feel of a real bat am I uderstanding this the right way. The # 9 bird shot then is applied , is it left to roll on its own or did you put it in some sort of sack so it slides as 1 unit.

I was just checking out the Right View Pro website and came across what they call the "Insider Bat". Here is a link to the page, and then click Insider Bat under the Cameras & Equipment heading:

http://www.rightviewpro.com/products/cameras

There is a demo video available. Has anybody used one of these, or heard anything about them?

You don't have to use a piece 14.5 long....pre drill a hole at 14.5 inches from the knob up and then insert a piece of dowel 1.5 inches long and mark a circle on it at .750 inches so you can see it when you slide it into the tube. Sand off a 7/8 " piece so it slides in. Then pre drill the wood and put a wood screw in and put some glue on the threads.

Did you correct the angle of the handle any,,,,, from our discussions the hands at contact diddnt seem right , it needed a deeper bend at one spot, Think it could be a decent tool if that corection was made

Tim when you come down we can work on it....one thing for sure you must take it up the middle and when I looked at the persons using it they seem to have it, the lead elbow more straight than I would suggest. I do not like the handle either as it does not feel real. Don and I talked about it and I suggested they put a memory stick in the handle like we have in the hammer bat so the bottom hand will line up and make the diameter more conducive to the feel of a bat. You can not hit real balls with it either and that is OK as the muscle memory is more important just like using the PVC sticks.

With the lemming bat axe hanging in the garage on the rack with the other bats it draws people to it like it is saying please pick me up and they can't resist just holding it and asking what is this used for?
