To what extent do you research potential coaches before allowing them to build a team under your name?

Do you assess said coach's knowledge, previous coaching history, background (both private and professionally)? If you give said coach a green light to build a team under your organizational name, do you evaluate potential players to ensure quality and talent is at or above the class your organization is known for?

Once the roster is complete, do you monitor performance in tournaments? If so and you see the team is getting slaughtered tournament after tournament, what are the consequences?

What if the problem isn't the head coach but the assistants? Do you hold the entire coaching staff accountable?

If parent's come to you with concerns, how would you handle it? (Yes, I know some parent's wear google or will never be happy no matter where they are) How many parents does it take that are making true and verifiable complaints before you take action? If you do take action, what steps do you take? also how long should parent's wait for action to be taken?

Can anyone further elaborate on anything I didn't think of?

A solid resume and see them play before they enter your organization.

I would like to think most do this. I can say We played a team with a “Prestigious” name from Ohio and I was in disbelief. No offense but they should not have been in our pool. Head and shoulders below all the other teams talent wise. Again this is on the Coach.

A coach needs to be honest with the team, parents, & staff. Select tournaments equal to your level of play. Getting slaughtered every game does nothing but frustrate parents & athletes. Makes the Organization questioned when you have a team that is less talented than all your other teams.

What if the problem isn't the head coach but the assistants? Do you hold the entire coaching staff accountable? Entire Staff is responsible. For sure the Head Coach.

Parents will be parents. You can’t make everyone happy. You need the head of the org. to watch games and evaluate the coaching & talent level.

There’s levels to this game just like anything else in life.
I coach this game with passion and fire.
I also treat this game with the same respect I treat my career with. Dress for success.

If I see a coach out there coaching with Slides on or jeans I scratch my head. Makes no sense. You think it’s ok for your athletes to practice in slides? Is it ok for them to hit wearing jeans?? No. Lead by example.

16s & 18s coaches should have the main goal of getting their athletes to college. Softball during college is a bonus.

I am getting our Young ladies ready for the real world and they will not need a man to take care of them. They will be able to handle themselves in life. #DoomStrong
