OSU Scrimmage

OSU held an intra-squad scrimmage today, and I have to say the new freshman pitcher (Nichols) looked very good. I don't think she allowed anyone on base (if memory serves me correct). Her speed was up to 69 mph...........65-66 mph on her drop ball. Bodecker looked good, not sure if she is 100%, but her change up was nasty as usual , it's amazing to see Big Ten hitters fooled by this pitch time and time again, but it happens. If you want your kid to see a good change up, you can't do much better than Bo, and she topped out around 64-65 on some of her other junk (I believe screwball and curveball, drop ball). Hopefully she can stay healthy. I think the coaching staff answered some questions today where the pitching staff is concerned. I know she is young (Nichols), but she was clearly the most dominant pitcher today, and I think she is going to command a lot of innings this season, which is what they need. Pitchers dominated much of the scrimmage, of course some of that could have been how they rotated the pitchers, a couple of innings at a time...sometimes less, and they even pitched around Marder for the most part, some things never change. If Nichols can contribute considerably, this team will fare well. Good Luck Ladies. Go Bucks.

I am not sure, it wouldn't shock me if they do it every week this time of year, at least until they start the season. We just happened to hear they were playing from some people we were playing indoor ball with.

Unless things have changed, they scrimmage a lot this time of year. Almost daily. They do have the disadvantage of fielding off the turf of the Woody Hayes Center, while the southern and western teams enjoy the dirt outside. All the Northern teams can relate, I`m sure. 11 days until the first game.

I think that was the speed going down to the facility (on the speedometer in the car - lol -),I saw her throwing this fall and she was in the low to mid 60's then, wouldn't surprise me that E.B. has her in that range. Good luck to the Softball team this season - I'll be there to follow them.

It's always fun for the team and coach's to have some spectators present. No charge...close up look. Good opportunity for players to watch up close.
