Re: PONY announces 2008 world series sites and dat

Being unfamiliar with Pony, having never played in a Pony sanctioned event, what can someone tell me about Pony as far as:
Pitching distance in Pony is 43' - correct?
EP's, FLEX, etc?
Qualifying procedure - Do you have to qualify to go to Nationals, or can you just attend a qualifier a pay your way into the Nationals? (What I mean is, we often plan and take care of travel plans, lodging, etc. ahead of time, however lets say you went to a qualifier or two, but didn't place. Could you still go to Nationals?
Is there a state tournament?
Thanks in advance!

You qualify at a PONY tournament and no state tournament. Teams can also qualify by hosting a PONY tournament and usually the Nationals tournament director has a few at large bids for local teams. Our experience was PONY Nationals are extremely well run, competition is very good and the fields are in fantastic shape. 2007 rules are posted on the Marion Rebellion website at

Haven't played PONY in a couple of years, but when we played in their Nationals as 12s and 14s there were quite a few eastern and south-eastern teams (with other areas sprinkled in) that were using it as a tune-up for the ASA Nationals (which were the following week) - so, some pretty good competition at the time. Loved the venue in Louden County, VA, and heard that Dave did a real nice job when he hosted them up north.

I appreciate the input.
I do have one other question in regards to the location of the Nationals in Eastern Ohio!
Does anyone have an idea of which part of Eastern Ohio this will be held, or when it will officially be
announced?
Thanks!
