Prospect Camps

Daughter is a college senior so she has the opportunity to learn from her coach some behind-the-scene info on how some players get recruited. Not many universities had "prospect camps" when my daughter was looking to get recruited, but back then they might have just been called "skill camps." Anyway, coach went out to a major tournament this past wk for a last look at a player being considered along with 3 others for 1 scholarship. The tournament was effectively rained out, so coach didn't see her play. Coach did see 2 of the others being considered at the university's prospect camp earlier this month. End result, the player who didn't make it to the prospect camp is now all but out of the running. Tough luck, but something to consider, especially if you know, as this girl did, that she is being considered along with others.

Very useful info. My daughter's just got an invite to a camp for a school. In the invite it mentioned that coaches are only allowed to invite them before their junior year of HS starts. After that, they are not allowed.
