Still need one more team to jump in this. Already a strong group of teams, great chance to see where your team is before breaking for school ball.
We are trying to get the schedules out by Saturday......

A big thanks to the Chris and the Vipers organization for putting on a well organized, well run roundrobin yesterday. It's kind of crazy fun playing off the nets/walls, and having a "fifth" infielder behind second, but regardless, you just can't beat live pitching and hitting. We had a great time playing against some excellent competition. Very impressed with the young Venom team...fast, strong defense, pitching, and can put the ball in play. Express' young pitcher did an excellent job keeping us off balance, and they came to play at the plate...and Gannon's ladies kept the game exciting...and your SS is a player. Good luck to all the ladies this HS season... I know I'm excited....looking forward to Monday...bring on pitchers and catchers...LOL

Corina,
Thank you for the compliments. It was an honor for us to host this event. Once again the competition was top notch. It was a pleasure playing against your Cincy Doom team and as always, they did not disapoint. I agree with the coment about the Venom team. Very impressed with the talent and the coaching. This team will turn some heads this summer. I'm sure Gannon will chime in in reguards to our Vipers team but I will say this..... we are a young team ( 4 girls are 14U eligible) but these girls will be in every game this year. They will learn alot from playing against teams like the Doom. Yesterday was just the 3rd time this team has played together and they did very well. They are very dedicated and their work ethic is unbelivable. They play hard and they practice even harder. Summer can't get here fast enough for this young, competitve team. And yes, the shortstop is a player.... definetly not afraid to get dirty.

Thanks to all the teams for coming down yesterday and good luck to you all!!!

With us doing a round robin format I didnt keep everyone's final scores. Maybe the coaches will report the final scores of their games. I"ll look up the Vipers scores and post them here in a bit. I do know that every game was close, a few of them were 1 run wins. Very good competition all day......

My thanks as well . We had a lot of fun yesterday with all the good talent we knew we had better come ready to play. As coaches we were alittle worried since we had to sit on the bench and watch someone else coach the girls. and the fact that we have not been able to get with them ( for high school rules reasons) caused alot of stress.LOL
the three teams we played made our girls step up and play and that is what competition is all about . We were missing a few girls (shortstop and catcher and outfielders) but that was really good for the other girls in some strange way as they had to focus at different spots at times. I was extremely impressed with all three teams we played and nerves made me go to the bathroom several times a game-lol
I saw three teams ( Express.Vipers and Venom) that will compete deep on Sunday in every tournament.
Thanks for the great games and good luck this year

My understanding, the young Venom team had only two practices coming into the event. After their second game... they faced the Doom North and held their own losing 1-0. Very, very impressive group of young girls who are going to make an impact in many events this coming year.

As for the Doom North team.... I hereby name their pitchers the " Nasty Girls" and they sure pitch an arrangement of pitches.

Number #13 of the Doom North threw a pitch and I had to ask the catcher... "What the heck was that?". She informed me that it was her "rise ball".

For the non-believers of the theory of a rise ball and you play against this pitcher... when your DD comes back from the plate into the dugout with her eyes wide open and her mouth dragging the floor ... you know she has seen it.

That is absolutely.. without a doubt.. the MOST impressive pitch I have EVER witnessed in all my years of umpiring.

Some teams were without players this weekend. It's just about gettng some swings and bonding. I wouldn't read too much into the scores.

All-

I very much appreciate all of you for your words and your actions. The coaches, players and parents were all top notch. It was an outstanding atmosphere to play this great sport in. We all enjoyed it very much. Chris, this is the 3rd time one of my teams has played in one of your events and it was well run each time. Your young ladies are great! The teams we played were excellent and you could tell well coached.

As for our girls. I am so humbled by their work ethic. We only had two opportunities to play together, but they attend all the clinics we hold and all the hitting sessions we hold and all of them work hard outside of practice. It's their passion for the game and their parents willingness to help them be successful that will help them reach their goals. I'm proud of them and wish very much that I could be here this whole summer to watch them develop into an outstanding team.

I personally want to wish everyone the best going into the High School season and I'm sure we will see you all out on a diamond somewhere.

Thanks you,
Rick Asher
