My understanding ... not until practices officially start February 24 ... I believe they are allowed to do up to 4 though before the season starts? That info may be outdated ...

I heard a rumor about a couple of high profile teams in N e Ohio having a three way next weekend but I didn't think they are allowed now. That's why all the High School indoors end when they do.

If true, instead of leaking out who might be planning this, my recommendation would be talking to someone from within one of the competing schools (even a parent) and suggesting they might want to check out the OHSAA rules on this first before they get themselves in trouble. While I would find it hard to believe that some of the more high profile teams wouldn't know about this, I can assure you that there are some high school coaches out there who don't know these rules.

As long as the coaching staff is not part of the event and it is not sponsored by a school (so, no OHSAA umpires) the ladies can get together and play and it should not count for the four preview or scrimmage game total as an unofficial contest...
Teams that play Feb / March go 4/5 innings or play one hour, roster bat etc. Not sure how it does not count but schools have been doing it for years even with late March previews and 3/4 scrimmage games.

Just to clarify - The high school team cannot play indoor as a full team regardless of who the coach is after February 1. The most amount of players who can play indoor together on the same team after Feb 1 is four from the same high school team. Just watched the mandatory OHSAA rules interpretations video. They covered this extensively... And yes, the video was tedious and boring.

Not pointing fingers at anyone...... curiosity over a conversation I heard recently that's all. I would never mention the schools that were involved in the conversation. I just didn't know the rules that's all. It may ll be B.S. it is just hear say as far as that goes. Lets hope it isn't true, theres a school not very far south from me who got in a bit of trouble recently for coaching the girls when they shouldn't have......

Thanks for sharing that Tony ... yeah, I don't want to go watch any videos or look up any rules but that's exactly what I thought.
