The Michigan Batbusters went undefeated in pool play and to the championship game. they had beaten the SGS Magic 18O 6 to 2 in pool play. The two met in the championship game with the Magic taking it 2 to 1. Shelby Erford (Bluffton College) hit one out in the bottom of the first for the Magic. The Batbusters scored one in the top of the 5th. Then in the bottom of the sixth Lindsey Tobias (U of Toledo) hit a double and Lindsey Bandeen followed her up with a grounder up the middle. Tobias scored from 2nd on a hook slide into home. The Batbusters had runners on 1st and 2nd top of the 7th with one out. Bandeen came up big again as a high line shot near second base was stabbed by her and she tagged the runner on 2nd as she was coming down from the catch. I honestly have never seen a bang bang play like that to end a game. This was a classic college player game. Great defense, great pitching, timely plays. Congrats to the SGS Magic.
Also, Lindsey Bandeen has shown skill and desire in the SS position. She just finished at Owens Community College (National CC runners up this year) and is uncommitted to go on to a four year school. I can't believe a player like this has not caught on with a school to continue playing. I think a couple of the D1 MAC schools in the area would do well to grab her up. (She is not my child and I have no connection to her) You would think 4 year college coaches would strike up a relationship with local community colleges and have them contact them when they have good players graduating. Who wouldn't want a player that has proven themselves at the CC level, 2 years older, 2 years more mature and 2 years improving themselves. These type players could come in and help a team right away and at least provide solid depth.
