We were at the Mason Sports Park and coaches were at our field both days. I'd be curious from those asking if coaches were actually in attendance...did your girls send the coaches emails/tweets/tetxts with their schedule? College coaches don't just randomly stumble upon Showcase events and walk around looking for talent. They usually go to see certain kids play - kids who have reached out to them asking them to come watch. I know kids on our team invited coaches to come watch. We even saw some there that weren't a part of the camp on Sunday. I saw some question on results too...not sure why results would matter if it's just a showcase for exposure and not a tournament with a bracket? I thought fields were in great shape all weekend too.

Yes...As I stated in my post. I was there all am through early afternoon at Mason HS on Sat and all morning and early afternoon on Sunday. Different sites, but I was there watching my kid play. Wasn't stalking for coaches, but there were not any in attendance at those games. 100% sure. HC said same thing.

I can't speak for the girls on our team, I can only speak for mine and she 100% did send emails with links to online player profile and hitting videos to the coaches whose programs she was interested in learning more about. Did not get answer nor did any of them show up to watch her play. That's ok..they are busy and there are lots of girls to see wherever they were I am sure. I just don't think many coaches attended games much at all..just showed up for the camp on Sunday.

Results matter because I am a fan of the game. Lots of teams we have played in past and like seeing how everyone is doing. You don't have interest in that part of the games? Just for my own enjoyment of the weekend I would like to see how teams are doing. It is a pain to have to go search for teams via game changer. They didn't even post what teams were even in the event anywhere.

As I stated in my post. Umpiring was great, the fields we played on were excellent, and we got 5 quality games in. All our games were close. Good place to start the fall off. I would not be upset with this being on schedule in future. Cincinnati needs some high quality events. Lord knows we now have some really nice facilities to do it. BUT I would like to see the coaches that they advertise and I would like to see some schedules/results posted for the fan part.

As many already know, no college coach is going to be influenced in the slightest by a tournament labeling itself as a "Showcase" or if there is no such designation. I've never heard a single coach say they are going to a tournament because it's labeled "Showcase", or say they aren't going because it's not labeled that way. If teams want to be seen by college coaches, get in tournaments with top teams and then have the players e-mail college coaches the week of those tournaments. That won't guarantee exposure, but it will greatly increase the odds.

Over the years I have seen many events with the tag "showcase" yes if one school coach is there it is a showcase. I remember grumbling about 10 years back when Shawnee state had their showcase event it was like $200/$300 to enter and when teams got there they found out it was a team fundraiser (like most are that is hosted by the college). Players showcased in front of Shawnee coaches in a round robin format. Shawnee players maintained the fields and I thought umpired the games.

I do not know what the college coach listing looked like for the event but anyone with common sense would not compare a small college event/showcase like this to any of the high profile events. Honestly if they were to get a couple local college coaches to attend (DIII, JC or NAIA) that would be a success.

Again, these type of schools/ programs try to recruit talent at smaller local events that supports their athletic and school admittance base….
I am thinking schools like Sinclair, UNOH, Miami Hamilton, UC Clermont, Mt St Joe, Thomas Moore etc.
Most of these coaches will also attend a team practice, some even catch HS workouts to recruit players so I guess you could call these events showcases as well.
I remember TM and MSJ attending Colerain and EC practices connecting with the players.
One neat event we use to do around 12 years ago with DOOM, Sluggers and Stunners was the Vernon Bibb fall classic. I am not sure if the colleges even put it on anymore but the ladies got the chance to play collage teams as well as each other for a fun weekend nice way to showcase skills and meet coaches in game situations as well as explore the facilities.
