Asked some kids the other day "Hey why don't you guys go play some slam ball, you only need a few players". They looked at me like I was nuts, I tried to explain it to them they said it would take to long to play. I don't know if you can buy those rubber balls any more anyway. Can of paint and a ball was all you needed. I did tell them to use duck tape instead of paint though..........LOL.;&

We called it slam ball Im sure others called it different things. Hand Ball wasn't even thought when we was that age. I believe another name some called it was wall ball.

Never heard of it but it looks fun. I could see it getting a little hateful though.

I think the game that is being refered to originally is Hand Ball - which has been around since before any of us was born.......................

Slam Ball is the game in the video, which has only been around since the last 10 years or so................

We used to play a type of wall ball called Revenge. Every lunch hour at our elementary school. We had a tall wall with a yellow line painted across about 3 feet from the bottom. You have to throw above the line (ususally as hard as you can). If the person who catches it before it bounces, the thrower is out. If you drop the ball when attempting to catch it, your out. Fun game and I have so many fond memories.

The ball we normally used was an Indian Rubber ball but if someone didn't have one then you could always use the red/white/blue ball or a tennis ball. Indian Rubber Ball makes it that much more challenging.

we did this with a similar wall and ball, but to get someone out they had to miss play the ball and, when they did they immediately had to take off for the wall. If you picked up the ball and pegged them with it before they touched the wall they were out. They could not knock the ball away or anything after they booted it you just took off for the wall if you mis played it. We just called it wall ball. Played with a tennis ball. No pegging in the back of the head. Good fun... with a few bruises

We painted a square on the school wall. Batter's box was from the chest to knees. What ever distance we as kids were playing at was pitchers mound. There was another wall across from the wall we pitched into. It was a single on the ground past pitcher, 1st ledge up was a double and so on. The biggest fights we ever got into was if a ball was pitched on the line or not for strike 3.

Ha. Ha. We used an air conditioner at a nearby appartment complex as the strike zone. The sound it made eliminated all arguments. (neighbors weren't crazy about it though). Same concept. Ground past pitcher was single. Ground to the apartments across the yard double, fly, triple, and over the building was an HR. Only needed two people to play.

We used to do the same thing when I was a kid, but with wiffle balls. There were lines set up to determine whether a hit was a single, double, triple, and HR. You could play with just two if necessary, and we'd do it for hours.

Nowadays, you struggle to get kids away from computers and video games to do much of anything else.

Now your talking "stick Ball" We used to play this almost everyday! We even went s far as using major league ball club lineups and kept stats for a awhile.. Yeah we were into it. If you had a lefty then you had to bat left when he came up and all. Had backyard scripted out as to what was a single, double homer etc! It was funny the first time I used this as a little game in the gym... The kids were like.. where's 1st base? you mean you dont run?? no you dont run.. it's stick ball or we used to call it Tape ball because we used tape and whatever we could ball up to make the ball. It eventually would get lost or destroyed and we would just make another one.. Dad was always wondering where his tape went

Lawn chairs also make a good strike zone. If we were playing whiffle ball with those balls that have holes on one side I had a curve that was unhittable and could hit that chair 3 out of 4 times.
