RIVERSIDE, Calif. — A pair of 2-0 decisions summarized the doubleheader between the Hawks and La Sierra. Both teams were able to grab a win, with La Sierra winning Game 1 and the Hawks taking Game 2.

The split gives SDC a 6-6 record on the year.

The Golden Eagles scored a run in the first and fifth inning for their two runs. The Hawks had the best chance in the game in the top of the seventh. Back-to-back singles from Elizabeth Wilson and Alicia Corona gave the Hawks an opportunity to tie the game.

Emily Espino then dropped a sac bunt, moving the runners to second and third with just an out. But La Sierra was able to get a strikeout and a groundout to preserve the win.

SDC tallied seven hits, Corona leading with two. Madelyn Jacobs was tabbed with the loss throwing six innings allowing four hits and two earned runs with two strikeouts.

In Game 2, it took the Hawks all seven innings to score their first runs of the day. With two outs, Espino talked a single to right field followed by a walk from Tori Harris. Haley Curradi then hit the eventual game-winning 2 RBI double.

Madison Bostick earned the win for the Hawks throwing a complete-game shutout. She allowed seven hits with a walk and six strikeouts.

SDC will wait an extra day as their originally scheduled doubleheader with Vanguard was pushed back a day due to inclement weather. First pitch is scheduled for 12 p.m. on Sunday in Costa Mesa.
