DULUTH, Minn. (csssaints.com) – The College of St. Scholastica softball team squared off against the University of Northwestern (Minn.) for the fourth time this season and the second time in the 2018 Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) tournament as both teams battled for the championship trophy. Coming into Saturday the Saints had battled their way past Bethany Lutheran in the loser's bracket to reach the championship, having fell to Northwestern the previous day by a score of 10-1. Northwestern continued to stay hot in its tournament run, defeating the Saints Saturday by a score of 7-3 to clinch their first-ever national tournament berth.
