Doane Softball traveled to Tahlequah, Oklahoma, for a pair of games on Friday. In the opener, the Tigers rallied for a 3-2 win over Kansas Wesleyan before dropping the second game of the day to NCAA Division II Northeastern State (Okla.), 6-0.

The Tigers were held to three hits in the opener but took advantage of two Coyote errors to score two unearned runs in the 5th inning to tie the game. Doane took the lead in the 6th inning with a RBI-groundout by Mikenzie Wiseman and held on for the win.

At the plate, Haley Kennedy (JR/Lincoln, Neb.) was 1-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI. In the circle, Station Charters (FR/Severance, Colo.) threw a complete game, striking out seven batters and allowing two earned runs.

Northeastern State scored three runs in the opening inning and limited the Tigers to a pair of hits in the final game of the day.

Angelina Esqueda (FR/Las Vegas, Nev.) and Kennedy had a hit apiece for Doane. Josie Schnakenberg (JR/Wahoo, Neb.) was in the circle for the Tigers, allowing six runs in 6.0 innings while striking out seven.

Doane will play two more games on Saturday, February 22, beginning with a rematch against KWU at 10 AM. The Tigers close out the Oklahoma swing with a 1 PM meeting against Haskell.
