Doane Softball bounced back in Arizona with a pair of wins on Tuesday afternoon at the Tucson Spring Games. The Tigers opened with an 11-4 win over Indiana Tech and then downed Roosevelt (Ill.) with an 8-4 decision.

In the opener, Doane jumped out early with three runs in the 3rd inning. Jade Hill (FR/San Diego, Calif.) and Megan Elliott (FR/Simi Valley, Calif.) had RBI-hits in the inning. Doane added a run in the 4th on a RBI-single by Ashley Meyer (SR/Temecula, Calif.) for a 4-1 advantage.

The Warriors came back with two runs in the 5th inning to cut the deficit to one. In the top of the 7th, however, Doane pushed seven runs across the plate on four hits and two Indiana Tech errors. Kailyn Wiseman (JR/Sutton, Neb.) and Meyer had two-run base hits in the inning. The Warriors plated a run in the bottom of the inning for the final scoring.

Josie Schnakenberg (JR/Wahoo, Neb.) threw a complete game for Doane, going 7.0 innings and allowing four runs on 11 hits with four strikeouts.

At the plate, Doane had 11 hits with three coming from Meyer and Wiseman. Meyer finished the game with three RBIs to lead the team while Wiseman scored twice to lead the team as 10 players scored a run in the game.

Game two did not start well for the Tigers as Roosevelt scored three runs in the 1st inning off four hits. However, the Doane offense carried over quickly from the previous game as three of the first four batters in the game reached base to lead the bases. With one swing of the bat, the Tigers were in front as Jordyn Stearns (SR/York, Neb.) hit her first home run of the season, a grand slam.

In the 2nd inning, Doane put three more runs on the scoreboard for a 7-3 lead. A sacrifice fly followed by a two-run error gave the Tigers their runs. Roosevelt scored a run in the 4th only to see Doane get it back in the bottom of the 5th on a RBI-single by Erika Herrera (SR/Corona, Calif.).

Doane finished with eight hits in the game, two from Hill. Wiseman led the team with two runs scored while Stearns had four RBIs.

In the circle, Breanna Hamilton (SR/Windsor, Colo.) started and went 3.1 innings, allowing four runs on nine hits. Station Charters (FR/Severance, Colo.) closed out the game, throwing 3.2 innings and allowing two hits and striking out three.

Next up for Doane is a pair of games on Wednesday, March 11, as the Tigers take on No. 14 Olivet Nazarene (Ill.) and Aquinas (Mich.).
