[Softball] Softball Wins Twice in Texas

Doane Softball picked up their first wins of the season on Friday as they took a pair of games in Portland, Texas. The Tigers opened the day with a 9-6 win over Oklahoma Panhandle State and then took down Langston (Okla.), 8-4. The wins moved the Tigers to 2-2 on the season.

The opener saw the Tigers score three runs in the 1st and two runs in the 2nd for a 5-0 lead. OPSU came back with two runs in the bottom of the 2nd and two more in the 3rd. Doane came back with a run in the 5th and three in the 7th. The final runs for OPSU came in the bottom of the 7th.

Megan Elliott (FR/Simi Valley, Calif.) hit Doane's first home run of the season, clubbing a three-run shot in the 1st. She finished the game 3-for-4 with two runs and four RBIs. Mikenzi Wiseman (SR/North Platte, Neb.) added a three-run inside the park home run in the 7th inning, finishing the game 2-for-4 at the plate.

Josie Schnakenberg (JR/Wahoo, Neb.) picked up the win, allowing six runs, four earned, on 11 hits and three walks while striking out six in the complete game effort.

Langston jumped out to an early lead with a run in the 1st inning only to see Doane break through with five runs in the 3rd inning. The Tigers added a run in the 5th and two more in the 6th for an 8-1 lead. Langston scored three runs in the final inning.

Elliott smacked her second home run of the day, going 2-for-3 with two runs scored and four RBIs. She finished the day with five hits and eight RBIs. Tayler Mashburn (SR/Centennial. Colo.) and Haley Kennedy (JR/Lincoln, Neb.) added two hits apiece in the game. Mashburn and Blaire Edeal (JR/Lexington, Neb.) picked up two RBIs apiece.

Station Charters (FR/Severance, Colo.) picked up her first collegiate win, throwing 5.1 innings, allowing one run on four hits and two walks with three strikeouts. Emily Haines (FR/Folsom, Calif.) allowed three runs, all unearned, on four hits and three walks with a strikeout.
