XENIA, Ohio – The 2018 Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) announced its 2018 Softball All-Conference teams during the league's annual eight-team tournament held again this year at the Athletes in Action Complex.
Trevecca Nazarene University student-athletes secured seven of the 28 players named to the first and second all-conference teams. Trevecca also placed one on the honorable mention team.
Sophomore MaKray Odom was named the Great Midwest Player of the Year by the coaches in the conference.
Three Trojans are on the all-conference first team: Megan Groves, MaKray Odom, and Caitlyn Hudgins. The four Trojans on the all-conference second team are Danielle Horton, Kat Burbrink, Tana Whited, and Savannah Carr. Kelsey Seitz was selected to the all-conference honorable mention team.
The league's coaches voted for players selected to the first and second teams. Individual awards were also named for the G-MAC Coach of the Year, G-MAC Player of the Year, G-MAC Pitcher of the Year.
MaKray Odom's Player of the Year resume includes a .475 batting average also collecting five doubles, four triples, one home run, 22 RBI and 35 runs scored.
Odom's conference rankings include being ranked second in batting average in the conference (.475), on-base percentage (.490), and hits (66). She is fifth in slugging percentage (.590), runs scored (35), total bases (82) and stolen bases (20). Odom is tied for third in the conference in triples with four.
Megan Groves finished her impressive freshman year with a .364 batting average 12 doubles, five home runs, and 36 RBI's. Groves is second in the conference in 2-out RBI's with 16. She is tied for third in doubles (12), tied for fourth in RBI's (36), tied for eighth in runs scored (30), ninth in total bases (78).
Caitlyn Hudgins finished her year with a .388 batting average collecting six doubles, five home runs, 30 RBI, and 12 runs scored. Hudgins is tied for sixth in the league in 2-out RBI's.
