MADISON, S.D. (Feb. 5, 2019)—The Dakota State University Trojan softball team kicks off their 2019 season with three games in the Presentation (S.D.) Softball Dome Tournament Saturday in Aberdeen, S.D. The games are played inside the dome on the campus of PC (1500 North Main Street).

The Trojans begin the tournament play against a pair of NAIA's Top 25 nationally-ranked teams followed by a contest against the host school. DSU takes on former North Star Athletic Association conference foe and No. 24-ranked Jamestown (N.D.) in the first game of the tripleheader. First pitch is set for 12 noon.

Dakota State continues its action later in the day, taking on a pair of North Star conference members in a non-conference action. The Trojans play the league's preseason favorite and No. 25-ranked Valley City State (N.D.) at 3 p.m. DSU closes out the tournament against the host-school Presentation at 5 p.m.

Dakota State is coming off an impressive 2018 season with the most overall wins since the 2003 season, finishing with an overall record of 21-30. The Trojans also finished 13-15 record in the North Star contests, the most conference wins since joining the league in 2013-14. DSU advanced to the NSAA Softball Bracket 'A' championship game before falling to Jamestown.

Next Up: Dakota State prepares for the week-long Tucson (Ariz.) Invitational Games on March 4 through March 9. The Trojans are scheduled to play a total of eight games—Missouri Valley, Siena Heights (Mich.), Jamestown, Dakota Wesleyan (S.D.), Madonna (Mich.), Concordia (Neb.), Dordt (Iowa) and Roosevelt (Ill.)—in Tucson, Ariz.
