[Softball] Walters Snares KCAC Pitcher of the Week Award

WICHITA, Kan. – Friends University sophomore hurler Hali Walters has been chosen as the KCAC Softball Pitcher of the Week, the league announced today (Mar. 11).

"Hali has been working so hard this year to stay healthy and be her best for her team to be successful this season!" Friends head coach Suzanne Unruh said.

Walters picked up a pair of victories this past week for the Falcons, posting a 1.67 earned-run-average and a 21-6 K/BB ratio over her 21 innings pitched.

A native of Longmont, Colo, Walters' week was highlighted by an 11 strikeout performance at Newman and then five shutout frames and five strikeouts in a win over Hastings.

Walters leads the Falcons in ERA (4.79) this season and is fourth in the KCAC in strikeouts per game (6.26).

The Falcons are next scheduled to host Bacone College Thursday afternoon (Mar. 14) starting at 1 pm at the Two Rivers Youth Complex in Wichita.

"I believe she can be one of the top pitchers in the KCAC if she keeps up the great work," Unruh said.
