Mom let us know if you see a conflict between her golf swing and her ball swing. I have had a few kids that tried both sports and they both struggled because of the differences in the swings.

Good luck

Tim

This is why my dd hits the big yellow ball left handed, and the little white one right. It saves alot of headaches. There are some things that are the same, and if they try hard enough they can do both.

Some of the things Chrystal and Howard have tought her have improved her golf swing also. You just have to use it the right way.

I have had people tell me a golf swing and a softball/baseball swing are incompatible. DD seems to be able to do both with no problems switching back and forth. She has made some adjustments in her sb swing this year so it remains to be seen if that affects her golf swing.

As seem to be bowling and pitching. Whenever dd goes to a bowling party, the next day or so her pitching is a MESS!

The posts about how parents and kids manage multiple sports and burnout are interesting to me. This is our first year venturing into travel softball and I am still waiting to see how it affects DD's other sports. She plays $occer but only on the Jr. High team, and picked up Jr. High volleyball this year too. $occer will go way in 9th grade. Her main conflict is with golf. Last year she played in a few jr. golf tournaments which are on the weekdays. With her playing SB every weekend and then 2-3 times a week in her rec league, I'm afraid she's going to be too tired to participate in an all day golf tournament where she has to walk 18 holes and carry her own bag.
This summer will be the test to see if these sports are compatible. I don't see her every giving up SB or golf. She's been invited to join a JO volleyball team in the winter. Lots of $$$ going out the door!!

I remember someone saying that golf was the most under-used college scholarship for young women. :) Good luck!

I have seen a number struggle as well; my daughter will only golf in August. My son is a lefty but golfs right-handed so he is not effected

Welcome to the community, Yogagirl! You have come to the right place, as there are a lot of people on here that are very helpful. Just be careful you don't pulled in too deep! I find I spend waaayyy too much time on here! My DD is going in to her 5th year of travel ball and I don't see any burnout yet. I will say that she did cut out rec ball last year and didn't play fall ball because she went out for the high school basketball team. I think that helped her to avoid the burnout, as it gave her the fall and winter off from SB. Like many have said, each child is different, so who knows with yours. Good luck to you and your DD! I hope she enjoys the travel experience as much as mine has!
