I just received this e-mail..... The names of the teams were left in:

Sportsmanship

Had to pass this along. Saturday while playing in the spring ball tournament against Wauseon I witnessed one of those movements that defines sportsmanship. One of my batters noticed that her cleat was not tied.
So she bent down to try to tie it, and couldn't do it because of her batting gloves she was wearing. With out hesitation the catcher from Wauseon asked her if she would like her to tie it. My batter a little surprised at this
point put her shoe out and said yes. With out a second thought the catcher tied her shoe. At that moment the fans from both sides started clapping and laughing. Even in the spirit of competition the catcher from Wauseon showed
great sportsmanship, and I felt that I needed to pass this on. To the catcher from Wauseon. The entire Gibsonburg Softball team wants to say Thank You.

What sportsmanship that is. You don't see that everyday. It's great to hear that it's still out there. :)

At the end of a game last year when the teams were in line shaking hands-there was one girl on the opposing team the had something to say to most of our players. "That was a nice hit to CF", "My god you are fast", "You are a great catcher", "Beautiful Bunt you laid down", "You pitched a great game", etc.

We had just beaten this team, yet this player took it upon herself to compliment her opponents. When back in the dugout - I asked them if the compliments made them feel good. They said "Yes". I said "Then remember that".

Our Asst. JV coach accidentally started an incentive program. When you do something "spectacular", you get a piece of (Bazooka bubble) gum. I'm amazed how excited those high school girls get over a piece of bubble gum.

He has been known to give gum to a player on the opposing team and explain what it means. They seem to get even more excited.

The little things like a piece of gum or a kind word during the handshake mean so much!
