Coming off our or successful July clinic (recap here: http://www.thesoftballzone.com/show...-Summary-and-Pictures&highlight=stay+softball ), Stay in Softball is planning a few fall activities including a fall benefit tournament and equipment drive.

The fall tournament will be held on October 3rd and 4th and is being hosted by Valley Extreme Girls Fastpitch at Candlelite Knolls in Cortland (Warren). There will be 10u, 12u, 14u and 16u divisions and will have a 4 game guarantee. More information can be found in the tournament thread:

Please consider entering your team in this tournament! All proceeds that go to SIS will go to carry out our programs such as our free clinics, free equipment collections/distributions, support for families in need and to generally help grow the sport in Ohio and western PA. As an added bonus for two teams, Ricky and Jeff will be broadcasting one of the championship games live for TSZ Radio Show. If you listened to their broadcast from Fire in the Sky or Aunt Rosie's you will know how special this is for the players involved! WE are also in the process of soliciting donations/giveaway items for the tournament so that it can be a special event for all players involved. If you are aware of a business that may be a potential sponsor, please PM us (or e mail us at stayinsoftball@gmail.com).

We will also be holding a used equipment drive at the tournament. We have held two tournament-sponsored equipment drives this summer and have collected individual donations from many players and coaches we have met up with. These collections have enabled us to give equipment to many players who did not have their own. We have also outfitted numerous players at our clinics with free facemasks as that is often a piece of equipment that is overlooked or not considered necessary. A big thanks to all of you who have donated used equipment- especially Larry and Alaina York and Nitro Fastpitch for the two large loads of donations.

Another thing we are working on for the winter is a free Coaches' Clinic for rec coaches. The clinic will be led by an elite fielding instructor and hitting instructor (more specifics to come soon). The purpose of the clinic will be to assist rec coaches with techniques for teaching beginning/young players correct softball fundamentals. Even experienced rec coaches should be able to pick up something new from the clinic.

If you are interested in supporting any of our activities or becoming involved, please contact us. Thank you again TSZ community (and Ricky and Jeff) for all of your support!
